DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's tennis team wrapped up play in the 2019 ERAU Open, Sunday at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
Juan Ortiz Couder capped up a perfect 3-0 weekend in singles with a hard-fought, two-set (7-6 (4), 7-6 (4)) victory over Stetson's Sven Thiergrard in the Gold Flight.
The Blue Flight yielded three singles wins for the Eagles.
Lucas Bos held off Flagler's Rasmus Jonsson 1-6, 7-5, 6-4, while
Jefferson Hobbs topped Southeastern's Thomas Ortega 6-2, 6-2. The third win came from
Tim Loerwink who emerged on the winning end of a three-hour battle against Southeastern's Santiago Haas (6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2).
After splitting sets with Tyler Glowaki of Southeastern,
Blake Rohweder rallied from a 1-4 deficit to win his match in the White Flight 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.
The Eagles also had two pairings that were perfect in doubles play in the tournament. Ortiz Couder and
Andres Donayre downed the Flagler tandem and Rodrigo Carvalho and Felipe Carvalho 8-2, while Bos and
Alexis Guedy bested Bethune Cookman's Nicolas Rodriguez and Joshua Cadiz-Ramcharitar 8-4.
ERAU Head Coach Dave Paschal will take a small contingent of players to Pensacola Sept. 27-30 to compete in the NCAA II / ITA South Regional hosted by the University of West Florida.
