MELBOURNE, Fla. -
Romeo Crouch and
Luka Majstorovic are in the midst of two of the best individual seasons and program history while leading the Embry-Riddle men's basketball team to the best season of ERAU's NCAA II era. On Wednesday, Crouch and Majstorovic became the first two Eagles to earn first team All-Sunshine State Conference accolades and Crouch picked up the first SSC individual season award in team history as he was named the league's Newcomer of the Year, highlighting the All-Newcomer team roster.
Crouch has been a force for the Blue and Gold since first suiting up for the Eagles, leading the team with 19.2 points, 5.9 assists and 3.1 steals per game. The Titusville native has scored in double-figures in all but two games this season, reaching the 20-point mark 15 times, including a career-high 39 points in ERAU's win over Saint Leo on Feb. 19. The junior guard has been deadly from long range, connecting on 110 three-pointers, the second-most in NCAA II this year, and just 13 behind Owen Busch's school-record 123 in 1993-94.
Crouch's 557 points in 2019-20 rank just outside the top 10 in single-season history for Embry-Riddle, his 19.2 scoring average ranks sixth, his 5.9 assists rank eighth, and his 89 steals are the second-highest in a season in program history.
Majstorovic joins Crouch on the first team, making Embry-Riddle the only team with two representatives on the top league roster. The Belgrade, Serbia native is averaging 17.5 points, 8.7 boards and 2.7 blocks per contest in his final collegiate campaign. The Eagle center is shooting 59 percent from the floor and 71 percent from the free throw line. His 12 double-doubles this season are the eighth-highest in a single season for ERAU while his trio of 30-point outbursts in 2019-20 are the second-most in program history. He set a program record with 17 made field goals versus Barry on Feb. 8, and his nine blocks against Auburn Montgomery on Nov. 16 rank as the second-most in a game all-time.
Majstorovic ranks 11th on Embry-Riddle's career scoring chart with 1,578 points, seventh in career rebounds with 784, third in blocks with 161, sixth in field goals made with 648 and fifth in career field goal percentage at 59.6.
Crouch and Majstorovic are the 58th and 59th Eagles in program history to earn All-Conference honors, and the first two since DeForest Carter, Cesar Pastrana and
Dalton Barnes in 2014-15 to earn first team accolades. Crouch is the third Eagle in-a-row to earn a spot on the SSC All-Newcomer Team, following
Nashad Mackey (2017-18) and
Alston Jones (2018-19); he is the fifth Eagle all-time to claim conference Newcomer of the Year honors, the first since David Butler (2009-10).
The Eagles, seeded fifth in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament, continues their postseason run on Thursday, March 5 when they travel to Lakeland to take on top-seeded and NCAA II No. 5 Florida Southern for a 7 p.m. tip in the tournament semifinals.
