D2SIDA Men's Basketball National Media Poll - Week 1
NEW CASTLE, Delaware - After an unblemished 4-0 start to the 2021-22 season, the Embry-Riddle men's basketball team catapulted in the Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) top 25 poll on Tuesday at No. 11. The Eagles boast a pair of wins over preseason ranked teams, No. 20 Alabama-Huntsville, and No. 22 Lee, as well as two wins over teams that received votes in the preseason poll, West Georgia and Missouri Western State.
ERAU's 4-0 record comes with all four contests coming away from home, two at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in St. Joseph, Missouri, and two at the GSC-SSC Classic in West Palm Beach, Florida. Embry-Riddle has been led by senior guards
Elijah Jenkins and
Romeo Crouch, while newcomers
Jon Alessandro and
Nikola Jerotic have provided a presence in the frontcourt. Jenkins' 44-point outburst against No. 20 UAH broke the program record for points in a single game, and both he and Crouch were named the Sunshine State Conference Player, and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively for their efforts at the SCB HOF Classic.
The Eagles' No. 11 ranking marks the highest for the Blue and Gold as an NCAA program. Embry-Riddle first appeared in the D2SIDA top 25 poll on Dec. 10, 2019 when they were 19th; the Eagles would climb to as high as 12th that year in the D2SIDA poll and 20th in the NABC rankings.
ERAU has been 11th on 12 different occasions, the most recent came on Jan. 25, 2010. For a complete history of Embry-Riddle in the national rankings,
