DELAND, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's rowing team traveled to DeLand on Saturday to take part in the Stetson Invitational. The first race of the day provided the top highlight as the Varsity Four boat won the opening event.
The Eagle boat of

Rebecca McBride,
Samantha Fank, and
Kristen Vigna bested the boat from Florida Tech by over 20 seconds and the boat from Drake by nearly 33 seconds.
In the first Varsity Eight race, ERAU's boat of
Megan Byrne,
Shelby Ernst, Irina Djurovic,
Sofia Lorenzini,
Gwendolyn Powell,
Bethany Thompson,
Alexandra Popielarz,
Elise Dezotell, and Kendra Sander clocked in a second-place time of 7:12.20, which was almost eight seconds faster than Barry but 19.22 seconds behind Stetson.
After a break, the same boats returned to the water for a second race apiece, this time against different competition. In the second running, the Varsity Four boat took second place in 8:15.86, just three seconds behind Jacksonville and nearly a minute ahead of Drake.
The second Varsity Eight race saw the Blue and Gold post a third-place time of 7:11.43, trailing Florida Tech (6:54.69) and JU (7:00.50).
The Eagles will return to action next Saturday, April 17, when they travel to Winter Park to take on Rollins.
