MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The Embry-Riddle men's tennis team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2022 Sunshine State Conference regular season standings according to the coaches' preseason poll released by the league office on Wednesday. The Eagles, who are ranked 15
th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Associations Division II preseason poll, received 34 points to land in the No. 4 spot out of eight teams.
For the ninth straight year Barry has been tabbed as the favorite to capture the regular season title. The defending national champion received 49 points and seven of the eight first-place votes to top the poll. Saint Leo landed in second with 41 points, while Lynn picked up the remaining first-place vote and received 36 points to round out the top three.
Embry-Riddle was 5-4 in its conference-only 2021 campaign and finished third in the Sunshine State Conference tournament.

Juan Ortiz Couder headlines the Eagles' 14-man roster after achieving a top-50 NCAA II singles ranking, coming in at No. 46 in the final ITA poll of 2021. The Eagles return 10 student-athletes from last year's team, including five of the six players that featured regularly in the singles lineup.
The Eagles officially open their season at 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 1 when they host NAIA 2021 national runner-up Keiser at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
