ORLANDO, Fla. –
Sierra Coward continued to establish herself as the best multi-event athlete in Embry-Riddle women's track and field history on Saturday. The senior, who set the Eagles' indoor record in the pentathlon earlier this season, bested her own program record and personal best in the heptathlon on Saturday at the IMG Spring Break Invitational.
A day after setting a personal record in the 200m, Coward turned in a PR of 5.41m (17-9) in the long jump and a big PR of 38.10m (125-0) in the javelin on Saturday. She finished with 4,604 points to eclipse her previous ERAU record and personal best by 60 points, achieving an NCAA II provisional qualifying standard in the process.
Meanwhile, about two hours away in Orlando, Coward's teammate
Ta'Leah Adams was turning in a career-best performance of her own. Competing in the hammer throw, Adams had a throw of 56.96m (186-10) in her second of six attempts to post the Eagles' second provisional qualifying mark of the day.
Freshman
Kirsten Rolle also had a career-best day in the hammer, improving on her previous PR by nearly 4.5 meters with a throw of 43.03m (141-2).
The Eagles return to the University of Central Florida next weekend for the Knights Invite, March 25-26.
