MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's golf team closed out the regular season with a 10th-place finish (291-291-305=887) at the Battle at the Shores. All 16 teams played three rounds at the 6,733-yard, par-71 Normandy Shores Golf Club.

Par-5s were the Eagles' best friend as all five members of the Blue and Gold were under par on such holes for a team total of -9. Additionally, Embry-Riddle tallied 39 birdies, fifth-most in the tournament.

Ian Aldarondo (66-72-77=215) had a one-stroke lead after the first day of competition, partly thank to his personal-best opening-round shot total of 66, which was just the fourth time in program history an Eagle shot below a 67. Overall, he finished tied for seventh for his third top-10 result of the year.

The senior was the only player in the 90-golfer field to be in the red on par-4 holes (-1). In total, Aldarondo accumulated 12 birdies, tied for the most in the competition.

Pablo Robles (73-71-77=221) was right behind Aldarondo with 11 holes under par, tied for the fourth most in the tournament. He followed up a team-best second-round score of 71 with a 77 on Tuesday to finish second on the squad and tied for 29th in the field, a season-best result.

John Triplett (78-72-74=224) led the Blue and Gold in the third round with a 74, his lowest final-round score of the season. He notched birdies on the last holes on both the front and back nine.

Georgios Pachiadakis (75-77-77=229) barely edged Michael Faringer (77-76-77=230) for fourth on the squad.

No. 1-ranked Barry (286-280-279=845) blew away the field, winning by 14 shots over Nova Southeastern (290-281-288=859). Lynn (294-281-296=871) grabbed third while Tampa (285-294-294=873) and Eastern Florida State (292-281-301=874) picked up top-5 placements.

The Buccaneers claimed the top-3 overall individual golfers. A.J. Ewart (72-68-68=208) won in stunning fashion with an eagle on the 18th hole to claim victory by a single stroke.

Up next for the Eagles is the Sunshine State Conference Tournament held at the Grasslands Country Club in Lakeland, Florida. The competition begins on Sunday, April 10 with one round per day through Tuesday, April 12.

The 2021-22 Embry-Riddle Men's Golf season is presented by Tijuana Flats.
