DAVIE, Fla. - Severe weather limited the Embry-Riddle men's golf team to one round of play during the first day of the Shark Invitational on Monday, and the Eagles shot a 305 to sit in a tie for 14th. Play is being held at the par-71, 6,731-yard Grande Oaks Course at the Grande Oaks Golf Club. It's a challenging 16-team field that boasts four ranked programs in No. 1 Barry, No. 2 Nova Southeastern, No. T-20 Saint Leo, and No. 25 Tampa as well as four squads receiving votes in Florida Southern, Lynn, Shorter, and Rollins.

The Eagles brought the same lineup to Davie that they used at last week's Jay Jennison Cup, which ERAU placed fourth in.

Tiago Barni stayed steady throughout most of the round with an even-par score after 15 holes. The junior ended the round with three birdies and a score of 73 to tie for 27th.

Pars on each of the last three holes helped Edoardo Scialanga close strong for a 76 in round one. The freshman took advantage of par-5 holes, birdying two of the three on the course.

Brandon Godfrey birdied two of his first four holes en route to a 78 stroke total, the same score as teammate Georgios Pachiadakis

Similar to Godfrey, Aleksandar Abrashev shot below par on two of his first three holes and ended the day with 79 strokes.

Jacob Salazar competed as an individual and fired a 73 partly thanks to two birdies in his final five holes. The junior was among the best in the 92-player field on par 4 holes as he averaged 3.82 strokes which tied for the third lowest by an individual.

Florida Southern (284) has a two stroke lead on Shorter (286). Tampa (289) is in sole possession of third while Saint Leo and Lynn are tied for fourth with 292 strokes

Brendan Dunphy (68) of Tampa is the top individual after day one.

The Eagles will tee off at 8 a.m. on Tuesday with the hope of getting a pair of rounds in without any further weather delays.
