PHILADELPHIA -- It was an excellent day for Embry-Riddle women's rowing, taking home first place in both events that it competed in at the Head of the Schuylkill.
The Eagles did not lose to a single university, capturing first-place finishes in the Women's College Freshman/Novice Fours and the Women's Club Championship Eights in the Schuylkill River. As the program has never competed in the Head of the Schuylkill before, this gives them a perfect record in the event.
ERAU started off strong in the Women's College Freshman/Novice Fours, as the boat of Abby Webb, Isidora Djurovic, Katie Braddick, Sofia Glaser and Laurel Grein (Coxswain) was the only one of 19 competing to reach the St. Joe's split in under four minutes. They kept this pace the rest of the way, winning in a time of 15:22.621, with a massive winning margin of 26 seconds.
The Women's Club Championship Eights started off differently, as Shelby Ernst, Briella Goldenberg, Sofia Lorenzini, Caterina Hart, Soleil Edwards, Danielle DelGrippo, Alexandra Weilert, Kristen Vigna and Courtney Louderback (Coxswain) were only in seventh place at the St. Joe's Split. However, they recovered to be in first place at the Angels split, remaining there until they finished in first with a time of 13:32.205, nine seconds ahead of second place.
It's back to the Sunshine State for the Eagles, as they'll compete against Jacksonville at the Negaard Rowing Center on Saturday, Nov. 11.
