CHAMPIONSGATE, Fla. - A 281 in the second round, which was the lowest single-round score in the entire field and the fifth lowest in program history, helped the Embry-Riddle men's golf team move from tenth to sixth at the end of day one of the Citrus Intercollegiate. It's the first time the Eagles are competing at this tournament.

Per usual, it's a deep 13-team field featuring three ranked programs (No. 9 Nova Southeastern, No. 10 Barry, and No. 17 Tampa), four squads receiving votes (Palm Beach Atlantic, Union [Tenn.], Missouri Southern State, and Washburn), and the top-ranked program in the NAIA in Keiser. Play is being held at the par-72, 6,865-yard ChampionsGate Golf Club.

Two Eagles made their season debuts in Michael Faringer and John Triplett.

Par-5 holes were the Blue and Gold's bread and butter. On average, ERAU needed just 4.9 strokes to complete such holes, the second best average in the tournament.

Faringer followed a first round 74 up with his third career sub-70 round in round two with a 69 to sit tied for eighth at 143 strokes. His second pass through the course was flawless as the senior was bogey free. He finished with the most pars in the 72-player field with 29.  Par-4 holes were the Leesburg, Virginia native's favorite, averaging 3.85 strokes, which was tied for the seventh-best in the competition.

Tiago Barni bounced back from a 75 in round one with a five-birdie 71 in round two. He started his second round on fire by securing below-par scores on three of his first four holes. His 146 shots have the junior in a tie for 25th.

Georgios Pachiadakis led the squad through the first round with a 73 and matched that score in round two for 146 strokes. The senior performed the best on par-5 holes, averaging 4.75 strokes. His seven birdies were the most by an Eagle.

Like Faringer, Edoardo Scialanga (79-68=147) was perfect in round two with four birdies and no bogeys. His 68 was his second sub-70 round of the fall. Most of his success occurred on par-3s as the freshman tied for second in the field with an average of 2.88 strokes.

Triplett (81-76=157) also competed for the Eagles. He shot one under par on par-5 holes.

Tampa (284-282=566) leads Nova Southeastern (286-285=571) by five shots with Barry (287-286=573), Rollins (292-283=575) and Keiser 290-287=577) following to cap off the top five.

Keiser's Isac Wallin (72-66=138) and Nova Southeastern's Michael Hay (70-68=138) are tied for first on the individual leaderboard.

The fall season concludes tomorrow with round three starting at 12:30 p.m.
