Cheerleading Sits in Ninth Following Day One of NCA College Nationals

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A performance score of 90.9259 has the Embry-Riddle cheerleading team in ninth place in the Intermediate Small Coed Division II after the first day of the National Cheerleaders Association College Nationals. Routines on Thursday make up 25 percent of a team's score. The other 75 percent comes from Friday's performances.   

The Eagles received a raw score of 84.5333, which was fifth-highest in the 18-team division, but were also handed three points worth of deductions. 

ERAU will carry a 22.7315 event score into Friday, the second and final day of action. 

Lindenwood earned the highest score on day one with a 96.5926, which converts to a 24.1482 event score. The Lions, along with defending champion Arkansas - Fort Smith (96.3333 / 24.0833), Grand Valley State (95 / 23.75) and Saginaw Valley State (94.7407 / 23.6852), were the only four teams to avoid receiving any deductions and hold on to the first four spots heading into day two. Wayne State (93.2778 / 23.3195) rounded out the top five.

Embry-Riddle is scheduled to compete at 10:34 a.m. in the Ocean Center on Friday, April 7 for their final performance of the season.
