TAMPA, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's track and field team wrapped up competition at the USF Bulls Invitational hosted by the University of South Florida.
The first personal best of the day came in the pole vault where
Piper Kimes recorded a 3.35m (10-11.75).
The triple jump saw
Ashley Moore post a PR of 10.10m (33-1.75).
Tanija Turner set a personal record in the long jump with a leap of 5.22m (17-1.5). All three of her attempts were better than her previous personal best.
Breck Johnson also recorded the best leap of career in the long jump with a 4.38m (14-4.5).
The Eagles dominated the javelin, claiming three of the top four spots.
Sierra Coward won the event with a throw of 38.66m (126-10), followed by
Sophia Gustely in second (38.61m (126-8)) and Maxime Kirschner (38.11m (125-0)) in fourth.
The Eagles also found success in the discus with
Madison Morris placing third with a PR of 44.44m (145-9) and Gustely finishing fourth in 40.16m (131-9).
The Eagles' first event on the track featured a runner-up finish and two more personal records. Mackenzie Keller crossed the line in second place in the 1500m in a time of 4:36.37, while
Abby Valley (4:52.57) and
Ravyn Edge (4:55.41) both ran the fastest 1500m races of their careers.
While her teammates were in Tampa,
Ukeyvia Beckwith had the opportunity to compete at the Duke Invitational in Durham, North Carolina. The trip proved successful as she placed third in the invitational race in a personal best time of 2:05.72, which is also the fifth-best time in program history.
The next meet on the schedule is the Peach Belt Conference Championships which Embry-Riddle will host at the ERAU Track & Field Complex, April 20-21.
