NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its All-Academic Teams for the 2023 NCAA Division II Track & Field season and both the men's and women's programs from Embry-Riddle made the list. To be eligible for this award, the team's cumulative grade point average must be 3.0 or higher.
Embry-Riddle's women's track and field athletes compiled a 3.36 GPA, while the men's team had a cumulative GPA of 3.31.
Members of both teams also garnered All-Academic Athlete honors. To be eligible for the USTFCCCA's All-Academic Athlete award, student-athletes must have completed at least 24 semester hours with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and must have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) during either the indoor or outdoor season.
The women's track and field team was represented by 10 individuals, led by NCAA II 800m national champion
Ukeyvia Beckwith, who completed her master's degree in business administration with a 3.70 GPA, and NCAA II Indoor All-American and ERAU triple jump record holder
Mikaela Miles who has a 3.64 GPA in aeronautical science. ERAU 3000m Steeplechase record holder
Ariana Anderson (3.4 GPA, MS aerospace engineering), Peach Belt Conference Field Athlete of the Year
Sierra Coward (3.8 GPA, business administration), javelin record holder
Sophia Gustely (3.83 GPA, MS business administration) and 2023 PBC javelin champion
Maxi Kirschner (3.947 GPA, communication) each made the list. Also recognized were Mackenzie Keller (3.962 GPA, aeronautical science),
Laura McBride (3.916 GPA, aeronautics),
Anna Miller (3.613 GPA, aeronautical science) and
Morgan Dudley (4.0 GPA, MS aviation) who teamed up to set the program indoor record in the distance medley relay. Beckwith, Dudley and McBride were also part of the ERAU record-setting 4x400m relay squad.
Embry-Riddle had three men make the USTFCCCA academic list, led by
Ryan Flournoy who made program history by being the first Eagle to qualify for the national championships in the javelin. Flournoy owns the top 30 javelin marks in the ERAU record books and has a 3.328 GPA in aviation business administration.
Heinrich Adriaanse (3.356 GPA, aeronautical science) and
Bartosz Kwiecinski (3.33 GPA, MS Aerospace Engineering) also garnered All-Academic honors for the men.
