MARTINEZ, Ga. --
Derick Brown and
Brooklynn Gould's Eagles debuts could not have gone much better, as the ERAU duo took home two Peach Belt Conference Athlete of the Week awards following the RADD College Invite this past weekend.
Gould's first time competing for ERAU was sublime, as her performance in the pentathlon won her the Peach Belt Conference Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week Award. In the pentathalon, Gould won both the 800m (2:20.33) and the high jump (1.58m) to go with second place finishes in the long jump (5.27m) and shot put (9.66m) and a third-place 9.38 time in the 60m hurdles, giving her an ERAU record score of 3,504 in the event, which is also the top score in the region this year.Â
Brown got off to a great start with a time of 8.13 in the 60m hurdles preliminaries, giving him the then second-fastest time in Eagles history, only to outdo himself with an 8.11 in his win of the 60m finals. Not only did this give him both the second-fastest time in the region this season and the second-fastest time in program history, but it also earned him the Peach Belt Conference Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award.
In addition to this, both of them helped their respective 4x400m relay teams to top five finishes.
The Eagles are back in action this Friday as they'll be competing at the Florida Collegiate Invitational in Gainesville.
