PRINCETON, N.J. – In the rowing program's debut at the Princeton Chase, the Embry-Riddle women's rowing team put together a strong showing against historical competition. The Eagles, the only DII crew competing on three-mile Lake Carnegie course on Sunday, finished just outside the top-half of the 68-boat field, in 46th.

ERAU took on the likes of Ivy League's Penn, Harvard-Radcliffe, Princeton and Dartmouth, along with perennial powers Rutgers, Virginia and Oklahoma. Even a familiar face in Mercyhurst, which recently moved to DI this season; the Eagles turned in a better time than the Lakers by more than 50 seconds.

In the 8s for the Blue and Gold were Shelby Ernst, Briella Goldenberg, Sarah Kinlocke, Aria Moses, Abby Webb, Emily Retty, Soleil Edwards, Reagan Hurt and coxswain Jolee Paulk. The nine Eagles put together a good start in the morning's race, clipping to the first split in 8:36.787. In comparison, that was 0:55 behind first-place and host Princeton's A boat, and only 25 ticks off 20th-place Harvard-Radcliffe B.

The boat crossed the line at 15:35.538 overall to finish 46th out of 68 boats. ERAU turned in better times than Rhode Island B, Virginia E, Dartmouth E and Rutgers F in the top-50, as well as the likes of Temple A, George Washington B, UMass B and Mercyhurst.

In Round 2, the Eagle 8s took eighth place out of 14 boats, with a time of 16:11.555. The smaller field featured five Rutgers boats, two each from Virginia and Princeton, and one boat each from Penn, Harvard-Radcliffe, UMass and George Washington. The Eagles beat out two of the five Rutgers 8s, along with UMass, Radcliffe, GW and the Princeton B to earn their eighth-place finish.

The Eagles are back in action in six-days time, heading south for the first time this year to Melbourne, Fla., for Florida Tech's Head of the Canal on Nov. 9.
