WINTER PARK, Fla. — Embry-Riddle women's rowing started their 2024 slate off perfectly, winning six out of six races against Rollins in the TARS Regatta on Saturday.
Starting off with the Division II fours, Sofia Lorenzini, Danielle DelGrippo, Alexandria Fife-Winslow, Reagan Hurt and Jadyn Harjung (coxswain) took first place in a time of 7:45.7, 4.5 seconds ahead of the Rollins boat. After that was another ERAU victory as the varsity eights boat of Soleil Edwards, Briella Goldenberg, Abby Webb, Alexandra Weilert, Aria Moses, Elise Dezotell, Shelby Ernst, Kristen Vigna and Laurel Grein (coxswain) finished in 7:01.4, 4.6 seconds better than the second-place Rollins boat.
The second varsity eights boat added to the victory tally, as Lorenzini, DelGrippo, Fife-Winslow, Hurt, Caterina Hart, Lily Burdick, Katie Braddick, Sofia Glaser and Harjung (coxswain) came in first place with a time of 7:12.7, defeating the Rollins boat by 12.4 seconds. Following that was the varsity fours, where the Embry-Riddle boat of Ernst, Vigna, Edwards, Weilert and Grein (coxswain) won in a time of 7:59.7, 18 seconds ahead of the better of the two Rollins boats to compete in the event.
In the varsity fours B, the Eagles won again as Moses, Goldenberg, Hart, Dezotell and Harjung (coxswain) finished in a time of 8:14.7, beating the Rollins boat by 7.2 seconds.
ERAU wrapped up its sweep in the novice fours when Webb, Glaser, Braddick, Burdick and Grein (coxswain) gave them their sixth win, as they captured first place with a time of 8:13.2, bettering Rollins by 16.4 seconds.
The Eagles will be back in action in eight days, as they'll face Barry next Sunday.
