AZUSA, Calif. – Embry-Riddle Women's Track and Field sent a small contingent out to California, where they competed in the prestigious Bryan Clay Invitational. Competing among a field containing numerous NCAA Division I institutions, the Eagles set two program records and hit the NCAA II provisional mark in three events.
Brooklynn Gould was the only Eagle to compete on Thursday, as she came in third in the high jump (1.58m), fourth in the shot put (10.84m) and third in the 200m (25.33), finishing ahead of seven, five and seven Division I participants in those events respectively. This put Gould in the lead in the heptathlon after day one with 3,020 points.
On Friday Gould continued to excel, as her performances in the the long jump, javelin and 800m helped her to first place in the heptathlon with a program record 5,157 points, beating out seven Division I competitors and meeting the NCAA II provisional standard again.
On Saturday another Eagle broke her own program record, as Mikaela Miles had a triple jump of 12.37m, also hitting a provisional standard.
To wrap things up on Saturday night, MacKenzie Keller set a career best of 4:30.18 in the 1500m, meeting a provisional standard.
The third home meet of the season is next week, as Embry-Riddle will host the Eagles Invite at the ERAU Track & Field Complex on Saturday, April 20.
