BOCA RATON, Fla. - Edoardo Scialanga ended his freshman campaign with back-to-back top-10 finishes as the Rome, Italy native led Embry-Riddle men's golf with a 210 to tie for fifth at the Sunshine State Conference Championship. The Eagles shot a 867 (287-284-296), which is the program's fourth-lowest 54-hole score ever, to place eighth ahead of No. 25 Tampa (872) and Eckerd (911).

Play was held at the par-72, 6,786-yard course at the Osprey Point Golf Club. Four top-25 teams in the most recent Clippd rankings were included in the 10-team field, such as No. 11 Nova Southeastern, No. 12 Saint Leo, No. 13 Florida Southern, and No. 25 Tampa.

No team found more success on par-5s than Embry-Riddle. The Eagles were 20 under par on such holes for a tournament-low 4.67 stroke average. ERAU also tied for the most eagles in the tournament with three.

Scialanga (68-68-74) ended his last round with three birdies in the last six holes to secure his first collegiate top-5 result. All top-5 golfers and ties earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team, meaning Scialanga became the first Eagle in the program's NCAA II era to earn the honor.

His 210 total tied for the fifth-best three-round score by an Eagle. A large amount of the freshman's team-high 14 birdies, which also ranked tied for third in the field, occurred on par-5s. Scialanga averaged 4.42 strokes on such holes, good enough to tie for the second lowest average with his teammate Ryan Gear. He also excelled on par-4s with a 3.90 stroke average, ranking tied for eighth among all competitors.

Gear (69-68-75=212) was on the cusp of a top-10 placement, ultimately tying for 11th, a personal best finish. His 212 total was a season low and ranked tied for 10th on the program's 54-hole record list. It was mostly pars and birdies for the freshman as he led the squad in pars (34) and tied for ninth in the competition in birdies (12).

Tiago Barni (74-73-74=221) closed out his season by going two under on the last five holes. He averaged a stout 4.75 (-3) strokes on par-5s.

An eagle on the par-5, 510-yard 18th hole allowed Jacob Salazar (76-75-74=225) to end his tournament on a positive note. The junior tied for the sixth-best average on par-5s in the competition (4.67).

Michael Faringer (78-75-74=227) parred every hole on the front nine and improved his round score as the tournament went on.

Barry (275-288-283=846) claimed its third-straight conference title, edging out Nova Southeastern (283-279-286=848) and Saint Leo (284-278-287=849).

The Sharks' Michael Hay (66-67-72=205) birdied his last hole to win the individual championship by just one shot.

That concludes the 2023-24 season for men's golf. The Eagles finished with the second-lowest single-season stroke average in program history (295.4) while Barni (73.1, 3rd) and Scialanga (74.6, 10th) broke into the program's top-10 individual average list.
