SARASOTA, Fla. - For the third consecutive season, No. 2 Embry-Riddle women's rowing has won the Sunshine State Conference Championship at Nathan Benderson Park.
The Eagles won the varsity eights final for the second year in a row, as their boat of Shelby Ernst, Sofia Lorenzini, Soleil Edwards, Alexandra Weilert, Aria Moses, Reagan Hurt, Kristen Vigna, Abby Webb and Jadyn Harjung (coxswain) finished in 6:56.8, 7.5 seconds ahead of second-placed Rollins.
Tampa took first place in the varsity fours, as its time of 7:44.8 was exactly three seconds ahead of Embry-Riddle's boat of Alexandria Fife-Winslow, Sofia Glaser, Caterina Hart, Briella Goldenberg and Laurel Grein (coxswain) in second.
The win in the varsity eights was worth 15 points, while second place in the varsity fours counted for eight points. This gave ERAU 23 points, four points ahead of Tampa in second place. The rest of the pack included Rollins (16 points), Barry (nine points) and Nova Southeastern (eight points).
Embry-Riddle had four all-conference selections, as Abby Webb, Reagan Hurt, Alexandra Weilert, Laurel Grein made the All-SSC Team, while Jadyn Harjung was selected to the Freshman/Novice Team.
The Eagles aren't done yet, as they'll head back to the Camden County Boathouse in Pennasauken, N.J. in two weeks time, where they'll compete in the Dad Vail Regatta on May 10-11.
