INDIANAPOLIS – For the second time as a member of Division II, the Embry-Riddle baseball team has punched its ticket to the post season. The Eagles (31-19) have earned a spot in the NCAA II Baseball South Regional and will take on Delta State (32-22) on Thursday in Saint Leo, Fla. This will be the second all-time meeting between the Eagles and Statesmen.
ERAU's 31 wins are the most in the DII era and the most since 2015 overall. Embry-Riddle will be making its 16th overall postseason appearance, and will play past the regular season for the 10th time under head coach
Randy Stegall's guidance.
The Eagles put together a stellar season on the diamond. At the plate,
Chase Bruno led the entire Sunshine State Conference with his .401 average and 79 hits. As a team, the Eagles spliced together a total of 146 extra-base hits, including 21 triples, which was the 11th most in Division II this season.
On the mound,
Dillon Moran ended the year with 95 strikeouts in 86.1 innings of work, second- and third-most in the conference, respectively.
ERAU tied or won 10 season series, including five SSC series. Among those five conference duels, the Eagles swept two against Florida Southern and Eckerd. Two notable wins on the year for the Blue & Gold were upset victories over No. 1 Tampa, 14-10, and No. 7 Saint Leo, 15-7.
The NCAA Championships will take place in Carey, N.C., June 1-8.
