MELBOURNE, Fla. – Four Embry-Riddle baseball players garnered All-Sunshine State Conference honors, the league office revealed Tuesday. The announcement comes on the heels of the Eagles' (31-19, 17-13 SSC) bid as the No. 3 seed in the 2024 NCAA II Baseball Championship South Region.
Â
The Blue & Gold's
Chase Bruno (2B) and
Camden Traficante (SS) picked up First Team nods – the seventh and eighth Eagles to be placed on the First Team – while
Dillon Moran (SP) earned a Second Team call. Bruno and fellow senior
Alex Britton (OF) each earned a spot on the All-Conference's Defensive Team as well.Â
Â
Bruno led all Sunshine State Conference batters this season with his .401 batting average and 79 hits. The Summerville, S.C., native finished the regular season on a 19-game on-base streak, which encompasses a 15-game hit streak and a current nine-game multi-hit streak to close out the year. He is responsible for two walk off victories for ERAU, sending game-winning singles into the grass against Valdosta State and Barry. Defensively, Bruno was one of the more sure-handed players at the keystone in the conference all season. He compiled a .984 fielding percentage that includes 82 putouts and 107 assists to just three errors, the last of which was committed all the way back on Feb. 13.
Â
Traficante earned his spot as the conference's top performing shortstop with consistent play on both sides of the ball all season as well. The Ormond Beach, Fla., native led the Eagles in extra base hits (26), doubles (17), home runs (5) and RBI (47). The 17 doubles were the most in the conference this season, while his four triples were second only to fellow Eagle
Tyler Castelli. He also led the Eagles with 13 multi-RBI games and enjoyed a team-high 15-game hit streak in the middle of the season. On the glove side, Traficante helped turn a team-best 26 double plays. His quick glove and strong arm garnered 84 putouts and 149 assists for a .940 fielding percentage.Â
Â
Dillon Moran proved himself to be one of the most consistent and quality pitchers in the SSC this season as well. He worked himself into becoming the staff ace, putting together a tremendous last season in Daytona Beach. Moran compiled a 3.65 ERA and struck out 95 batters (second most in the conference by three) in 86.1 innings of work. In 14 starts, the Stuart, Fla., native went 7-3, including a conference-best two complete games; he was one of only seven SSC hurlers to go the distance, and the only one to do it twice – he did it in back-to-back starts (Palm Beach Atlantic and Florida Southern). He tied a career-high 11 strikeouts three times this season, and added a fourth game of 10 strikeouts in the 2024 season opener against No. 24 Montevallo.
Â
Alex Britton had a stellar defensive year in the outfield. The Orlando native is currently enjoying a team-best 24-game on-base streak at the plate, and added a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage on the outfield grass. Only nine defenders in the conference were perfect in the field this season including Britton and fellow Eagle outfielder
Dylan Brazil. Britton compiled 109 putouts between all three outfield positions, and had three outfield assists. Though he was called for his above average defense, Britton also batted .301 with 55 hits, 45 runs and 26 RBI.Â
Â
The four Eagles are the 142nd, 143rd, 144th and 145th ERAU baseball players to earn All-Conference selections in the club's 36-year history.Â
