Aracena Signs With USPBL’s Westside Woolly Mammoths

| By:
UTICA, Mich. - The Westside Woolly Mammoths of the United Shore Professional Baseball League (USPBL) have announced the signing of former Embry-Riddle Baseball student-athlete Timo Aracena. Based in Detroit, Michigan, the USPBL stands as one of the premier independent baseball leagues in the country since 2016.

"I'm excited for this opportunity," said Aracena. "It's a good league, and I'm excited to help give the team that extra push going into playoffs in about two weeks."

An infielder out of Vero Beach, Florida, Aracena recently completed a stint with the Energy City Cactus Rats of the Western Canadian Baseball League, a collegiate summer league. While there, he led the team in multiple categories including batting average (.362), runs (46), doubles (15), stolen bases (14) and walks (29).

During his four seasons as an Eagle, Aracena posted a .278 career average with 113 runs, 95 RBI, 32 doubles, four triples and 15 home runs over 150 games played and 140 starts.

"Timo was what we call a program guy," added Embry-Riddle Baseball Head Coach Dave Therneau. "He set the school record for most starts at third base. He was a quiet competitor that represented our program the right way on and off the field. He loves to play, so I am so proud of him getting this opportunity to continue his career."

Aracena hit .298 as a senior this past spring with 43 runs and a career-best 39 RBI. He tied for the team lead in doubles with 12. Aracena enjoyed his time as an Eagle and believes the program played a major role in shaping him into the player and person he is today.

"My time as an Eagle was awesome! I was always pushed to my limits, and when I embraced the challenge and all the hardships, I saw a side of me I didn't think was possible. Being there and seeing all the success stories was always a huge motivation for me to keep going and to never give up hope."

Aracena joins the team in the middle of the 2025 season, which lasts from mid-May to early September. The Woolly Mammoths sit in third place with an 18-19 record.
