WILMINGTON, Del. - Embry-Riddle Women's Rowing saw four of its student-athletes earn Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete honors on Thursday. Shelby Ernst earned the honor for the fourth-consecutive season, Soleil Edwards was a repeat honoree, and Lilly Avezzano and Jolee Paulk were first-time recipients.

In order to qualify, student-athletes must be in at least their second year of athletic eligibility and possess a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Additionally, student-athletes must have rowed in their institution's eligible boats for a minimum of 75 percent of the current spring races or race in a boat at their conference championship.

Edwards, Ernst and Paulk (cox) helped guide the Eagles to state, conference and national titles in 2025. The trio were mainstays in ERAU's top Eight boat, winning in Eights at the Sunshine State Conference Championship as well as the FIRA and NCAA II Championships.

As for Avezzano, she captured a bronze medal in Freshman Eights at the Head of the Schuylkill and later won gold in that same category at the FIRA Championships. The sophomore then transitioned to fours to help the Eagles claim the SSC Championship.

Ernst continues to rack up the academic awards as this is the 15th of her career. She possesses a 4.00 GPA for her master's degree in aviation. For Edwards, this is her seventh career academic accolade, meeting the criteria thanks to a perfect 4.00 GPA in electrical engineering. She also became the first Eagle in Embry-Riddle Athletics history to capture the NCAA's Elite 90 award, which is presented to the competitor with the highest GPA at each of the NCAA's 90 final championship sites. Both of them were also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team.

As for Paulk, she maintains a 3.50 GPA in aeronautical science while Avezzano is also an aeronautical science major with a 3.62 GPA. This is the first academic award for both Eagles.
