Women’s Rowing Places Edwards, Ernst on CSC Academic All-American Teams

| By:
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Embry-Riddle Women's Rowing's Soleil Edwards (first team) and Shelby Ernst (second team) were bestowed College Sports Communicators' highest academic honor as the two Eagles were named At-Large Academic All-Americans on Tuesday. It's the most CSC Academic All-Americans the program has had in a single season in its history. Additionally, Edwards and Ernst were two of only three women's rowers to earn the academic accolade this year.

The at-large distinction, which is an honor that seeks to recognize the premier student-athletes in college athletics who excel both in the classroom and in their respective sports, includes beach volleyball, bowling, rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing and water polo.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (including both undergraduate and graduate degree work) and be at least a sophomore in both athletic and academic standing.

For rowing, a nominee must have competed in at least four competitions or as a member of an NCAA boat at a conference championship.

Ernst is a repeat recipient after earning third team honors in 2024 while Edwards is just the program's second recipient. The two Eagles were key parts of ERAU's Varsity Eight shell all season long. Edwards and Ernst helped Embry-Riddle claim Sunshine State Conference and Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association titles while also aiding ERAU in capturing the program's first NCAA II National Championship.

This is Edwards' fourth academic accolade of the season after the junior received the NCAA's Elite 90 award, CSC Academic All-District honors, and was named a CRCA Scholar-Athlete. She has an unblemished 4.0 cumulative GPA and is majoring in electrical engineering, while Ernst is pursuing a master's in aviation and also maintains a 4.0 GPA. She also received a spot on the CSC's Academic All-District team and was tabbed a CRCA scholar-athlete.
