GREENWOOD, Ind. – Program history was made on Tuesday for Embry-Riddle Women's Lacrosse as Kaitlyn Henry became the squad's first-ever College Sports Communicators At-Large Academic All-American, earning a spot on the third team.

The at-large distinction, which is an honor that seeks to recognize the premier student-athletes in college athletics who excel both in the classroom and in their respective sports, includes beach volleyball, bowling, rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing and water polo.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (including both undergraduate and graduate degree work) and be at least a sophomore in both athletic and academic standing.

For women's lacrosse, a nominee must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or start in at least 66 percent of the institution's contests.

The team's senior captain, Henry was included in the starting lineup for all 21 of the Blue and Gold's contests. She was a key defensive piece, causing a team-high 32 turnovers, which ranked fourth in the Sunshine State Conference. The Voorhees, New Jersey native also collected 36 ground balls.

Henry adds this to her list of accolades she collected this year, including USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American, Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Region, and SSC All-Conference.

The senior graduates with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a 3.97 cumulative GPA.
