Nickson, Shockley-Okeke Ink Pro Deals, Extending ERAU Men’s Basketball Legacy in Pros

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A pair of former Embry-Riddle Men's Basketball student-athletes have inked professional contracts overseas, furthering their playing careers beyond the collegiate game.

Dru Nickson and Cameron Shockley-Okeke both have signed for European teams, marking six consecutive seasons where an Eagle from the program has signed a pro deal.

A native of Melbourne, Fla., Nickson has signed with the Nitra Blue Wings of the Tipos Slovenska Basketbalova Liga, the top tier of professional basketball in Slovakia. Nickson will lace it up in the same league as 2022 ERAU Men's Basketball grad Romeo Crouch who most recently competed for BC Prievidza.

Last season, Nickson led the ERAU squad with an average of 16.1 points, 4.1 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per contest while shooting for nearly 43% from the field. In four seasons, Nickson produced over 1,200 points for ERAU for a career average of 11.7 points per contest. In addition, he dished out 400-plus assists and snagged over 400 boards.

Nickson will join a Nitra Blue Wings side that finished fifth in the SBL with a 20-16 overall record.  Nickson's new squad will open the 2025-26 season on Sept. 27 against league foe Handlova.

Joining Dru in the pro ranks will be Shockley-Okeke, who signed for Sol Girones Bisbal Basquet. Cameron played for ERAU during the 2023-24 season, recording 31 starts for an average of 11.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.

The transfer from Columbia, Schockley-Okeke is set to tip-off in the Segunda FEB which is the third level of professional basketball in Spain. Sol Girones Bisbal Basquet finished 11th in the league with a 10-16 record a season ago.

The pair will mark eight signees in the last six seasons which includes Malcolm Whitlow (2024, Luxembourg), Chris Murray (2023, Spain), Romeo Crouch (2022, Spain), Elijah Jenkins (2022, Iceland), Tylin Lockett-Fuller (2021, Iceland), and Luka Majstorovic (2020, Spain).
