Sandra Booker Named 2026 MEAC Hall of Fame Inductee

NORFOLK, Va. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) has announced the 2026 Hall of Fame Class, naming Assistant Athletic Director for Student Success Sandra Booker as one of the inductees.

Booker, a longtime administrator and coach at Bethune-Cookman University has earned an induction into the illustrious club for her 23 years of service as a member of the B-CU athletics hierarchy, including 22 as the program's Senior Woman Administrator.

While at Bethune-Cookman, Booker became the longest-serving SWA in MEAC history. In that role, she represented both B-CU and the league in critical policy-making decisions shaping the student-athlete experience.

"Sandra Booker was an anchor in the continuum of leadership that catapulted B-CU to the top of the MEAC all sports races for several years in both men's and women's sports," said retired B-CU VP for Intercollegiate Athletics and MEAC Hall of Famer Lynn W. Thompson.

"Her influence and emphasis in our women's sports program allowed B-CU to strategically plan for success as we developed a blueprint to upgrade our program with comprehensive championship goals in mind."

Under her guidance, the Wildcats captured the MEAC Mary McLeod Bethune Women's All-Sports Award in 2006 and routinely finished near the top of the standings during their final decade in the league. On the men's side, B-CU claimed the MEAC's Talmadge Hill All-Sports Award four times in seven years with Booker playing a pivotal role.

As a seasoned administrator, Booker held leadership posts at both the conference and national levels. She chaired the MEAC Senior Woman Administrator Committee, served on multiple championship committees, and was a member of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee. She also provided critical leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the MEAC Forecasting Committee, helping craft innovative scheduling models and safety protocols.

Booker's service at Bethune-Cookman extended beyond administration. She led the Lady Wildcats basketball program for six seasons and was named the MEAC Coach of the Year in 2003 and received the Athletic Director's Award for outstanding leadership in 2006.

Prior to arriving at B-CU, Booker spent seven years as head coach at Palm Beach Community College, where she was a five-time Coach of the Year. Her career also included coaching stops at the University of Central Florida, The University of Buffalo, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Currently the Assistant Athletic Director for Student Success at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Booker remains a respected mentor, motivator, and advocate for student-athletes.
