Men’s Rowing Earns Six Podium Finishes at Stetson Showdown

| By:
DELAND, Fla. — Embry-Riddle men's rowing brought three Varsity Eight boats to the Stetson Showdown on Saturday, facing competition from all three divisions of the NCAA. The Eagles were joined by fellow SSC rival Rollins, along with Stetson, Jacksonville, and Wesleyan. There were three races in the morning, before each boat came back again in the afternoon but faced slightly tougher conditions following the break.

The Blue and Gold opened the day with a bronze-medal finish in a photo finish of the V8+ race, as Jacksonville and Stetson crossed the line within half a second of the Eagles. In the afternoon session, the V8+ made a coxswain change, with Chase Kinniry stepping in to help guide the crew to another third-place result.

The 2V8+ race had the most successful day amongst the Embry-Riddle boats with a pair of runner-up finishes. ERAU finished 10 seconds ahead of the next closest boat, beating Jacksonville, Stetson, and Rollins. The second race of the day between the crews saw the teams finish in the exact same order, with the Eagles crossing the line with a time of 6:42.7.

Closing out the morning of races, the 3V8+ finished just a second behind Wesleyan with a 6:31.0 time in the 2,000 meter race. Once they returned to the water, the 3V8+ was able to improve their result, crossing just 0.4 seconds ahead of Rollins to conclude the day with a silver medal finish.
