Men’s Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at ERAU Eagle Invite

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's track and field team returned to the track Saturday to begin the outdoor season. The Eagles' strong day was highlighted in the javelin, where three athletes reached the NCAA II provisional standard.

Highlight Performances
  • The javelin trio of Mason Briggs (62.96m), Noah Gammichia (60.92m), and Chase O'Connell (60.75m) finished second through fourth, as former Eagle Ryan Flournoy won while competing unattached. All three Eagles surpassed the NCAA II provisional standard of 59.61m.
  • Taye Newman continued his strong freshman year, winning both the 1500m and 800m with times of 3:56.17 and 1:53.75, respectively.
  • The 5000m saw a top-three sweep led by Nicholas Scarangelli, who ran 14:32.51. He was followed by Ethan Stout and Andrew Stowe.
  • Aaron Nash shined in the long jump, leaping 7.33m to tie the Embry-Riddle program record. His mark narrowly missed the provisional standard of 7.34m.
  • In the hurdles, Carter Speh took the spotlight, running 14.59 to win the 110m hurdles.
  • Reese Howard and Caden Roberts also earned victories, with Howard winning the pole vault while Roberts cleared 2.00m to win the high jump.

Embry-Riddle will take a week break while the NCAA II Indoor Championships take place before competing at the UCF Black & Gold Challenge from Friday, March 20, through Saturday, March 21.
