DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle track and field team captured its eighth straight Peach Belt Conference title, scoring 238.5 points, besting the next-best team by more than 100 points.
Highlight Performances
- The Eagles took the top two spots in the javelin as Noah Gammichia threw 61.61m to claim the event, while teammate Joseph Rigo threw a personal best of 58.98m to finish as the runner-up.
- Carter Vance and Matt Larsen joined each other on the podium, finishing first and third, respectively, in the hammer throw. Vance threw a mark of 47.51m, while Larsen threw 45.89m to earn the final medal. Vance was also named the Freshman Field Athlete of the Year.
- The freshman high jump duo of Ryan Antalek and Caden Roberts continued a strong season as Antalek cleared a personal best and NCAA Division II provisional standard of 2.05m to claim gold. Roberts jumped 2.00m on his second attempt to earn third place.
- Senior Ethan Stout concluded his steeplechase career as the PBC runner-up, posting a time of 9:33.99.
- Derick Brown claimed the PBC title in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.10 and took third place in the 200 meters, running 22.13.
- Eli Enney placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 48.85 and finished fifth in the 200-meter final with a time of 22.23. With his performances, Enney was named the Freshman Track Athlete of the Year.
- Embry-Riddle was stellar in the discus, placing first through fifth. Anthony Tobiasz, Ryan Peterson and Jacob Swavely swept the podium for the Eagles with throws of 46.19m, 45.48m and 45.10m, respectively.
