DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The second-ranked Embry-Riddle men's tennis team extended its winning streak to 12 matches with a 6-3 defeat of NCAA II No. 6 Rollins (11-8) in the Eagles' regular season finale on Thursday. Playing in 20 mile-per-hour winds at ERAU's Crotty Tennis Complex, the Eagles stumbled in doubles play, falling behind 2-1, but they rebounded to dominate in singles, improving their overall record to 18-2 on the year.

The first point of the afternoon came on court one where the ERAU pair of Deni Zmak and Chris Freeman took down Will Kwok and Jason Alabaster, ranked 17th in NCAA II. Rollins' Cooper Maxwell and Adrian Di Felice leveled the score with an 8-3 win over Simon Felix and Kevin Chaouat at No. 3, and Malte Christesen and Robin Marchione held off Anthony Grasso and Miguel Lopez Gomez 9-7 at the second position to give the Tars the 2-1 edge heading into singles.

Felix was able to rebound quickly from his doubles setback, as he dispatched Sebastian Hafner 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles in just over an hour to pull the Eagles level at 2-2. On court six, David Spennare gave ERAU its first lead of the day with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat of Jacobo Herrero and Freeman downed NCAA II No. 34 Marchione by the same margin at No. 2 to extend the advantage to 4-2.

Against 29th-ranked Kwok, Zmak earned his 17th win of the year with a 6-3, 6-1 at the top singles spot to score the clincher for the Eagles.

The Tars got a point back when Christesen topped Grasso 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4, but Lopez Gomez answered with a 7-5, 6-4 decision against Di Felice to seal the victory.

The Eagles will now focus their attention on preparing for The Sun Conference tournament, which takes place at the Crotty Tennis Complex, Apr. 19-21. The Eagles, who won the regular season race for the ninth year in a row, are the No. 1 seed and will look to defend as conference tournament champions.
