DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – For the third consecutive year the Embry-Riddle women's soccer team will host the Habitat for Humanity Invitational at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium. The 2013 edition of the annual event will begin on Friday, Sept. 13 and conclude on Sunday, Sept. 15.

All four teams in this year's tournament are ranked among the top teams in the nation according to the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll, released on Tuesday evening.

Tournament begins at 5 p.m. on Friday when No. 3 Concordia (Ore.) goes up against No. 6 Northwood. The day's play concludes with a 7:30 p.m. match-up between fourth-ranked Embry-Riddle and 16th-ranked Kansas Wesleyan.

On Saturday, the teams will take a break from competition to volunteer in the local community from 9:30 a.m. – noon. The four teams will be split into two groups with one group clearing property in preparation for the construction of another Habitat for Humanity home and the other group doing light renovation on Debra Ann House, a Mental Health of America project.

Sodexo, Embry-Riddle's Dining Services provider, will partner with the event once again and will be providing lunch for all the participants at the conclusion of the Habitat Work Day.

The attention returns to the soccer field at 11 a.m. on Sunday when Embry-Riddle faces Concordia. The tournament concludes at 1:30 p.m. with a Northwood taking on Kansas Wesleyan.

Representatives for Habitat for Humanity will be on site for the Friday and Sunday games to offer information and volunteer opportunities to the spectators.  Since 1986, Halifax Habitat for Humanity has been a locally run Florida affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses are then sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

They qualified for the NAIA National Championships and posted 1-0 wins over both California State University-San Marcos and Cumberland (Tenn.) in the first two rounds of play, but fell 2-1 to then No. 1 Lee (Tenn.) in the national quarterfinals.
