SCOUTING THE EAGLESThe Blue and Gold are 2-2 on the young season after dropping a pair of games against NCAA II opponents last week. ERAU lost a close game at home to Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, 69-64, before falling at Florida Southern, 70-42. The Eagles opened the season with victories over Clearwater Christian and Florida College earlier in November.
SCOUTING WEBBER INTERNATIONALThe Warriors are 2-2 this year but have only played one game against NAIA competition. WIU defeated Coastal Georgia 76-73 to open the season before losing at NCAA I Florida A&M, 52-41. Last week, Webber International defeated NCAA II Puerto Rico-Bayamon, 70-67, and lost to NCAA II Valdosta State, 56-53.
Jurnee Pettigrew leads the Warriors with 15 points per game, followed by Deslyn Applewhaite (10.3) and Quanthavia Stalworth (9.0). Pettigrew also leads the team in rebounding with eight per contest and assists with 1.5 per game.
AMONG THE NATION'S BEST
It may be early in the season, but the Eagles have their name plastered all over the NAIA leaderboards. ERAU is currently fifth in steals per game (15), eighth in three-point FG made/game (8.8), 13th in blocks/game (4.5), 14th in assists/game (17.3) and 15th in rebounds/game (46.3).Individually, Kalah Martin leads the team with 11.8 points per game while also grabbing 2.8 steals per contest, 37th in the NAIA. Mercedes Jorge is averaging a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game and ranks 21st in offensive rebounding with 3.75 per contest. Sabrina Whiting leads the Eagles with 4.3 assists/game and averages three steals per outing, 24th in the nation. Taylor Cyphers is listed 16th in the country with an average of two blocks per contest.
