Robi Zimmerman pitched well enough to earn both wins on Wednesday and hit the walk-off home run in game two
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle softball team saved the best for last, ending the regular season with arguably the highlight of the year. Robi Zimmerman, who hadn't homered all year, hit a three-run walk-off home run to give ERAU a 5-4 win in game two of a doubleheader against Webber International on Wednesday at the ERAU Softball Stadium. The Eagles also won the first game, 3-1.

With the wins, Embry-Riddle closes the regular season with a 23-16 overall record and a 12-4 mark in league play, while the Warriors are now 14-24, 3-13 in conference.

Game 1 – ERAU 3, WIU 1

Dee Espinosa got the Blue and Gold on the board first with an RBI double in the bottom of third, scoring Jennifer Estrada to make it 1-0 Eagles.

Alyssa Householder doubled home Ashlyn Harden in the top of the fourth to tie the game at a run apiece.

In the bottom of the fifth, Espinosa got her second RBI double of the game, driving in Chanley Burge to put ERAU ahead, 2-1.

The Eagles got an insurance run in the sixth when Zimmerman knocked in Anna Battison with an RBI groundout, making it 3-1, which would prove to be the final score.

Zimmerman (9-9) earned the win, tossing five innings, allowing one run on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Alexis Estrada picked up her second save of the season, pitching two scoreless innings, giving up just one hit with four strikeouts and no walks.

Espinosa was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, while Sarah Huey and Haleigh Lewis were each 2-for-3. Burge ended up 2-for-2 with a run scored and Battison was 1-for-1 with a run scored.

Naomi Spurgeon (10-13) took the complete game loss, giving up three runs on 10 hits with no walks and two strikeouts.

Householder was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI while Jasmine Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with a double.

Game 2 – ERAU 5, WIU 4

The Eagles got on the board first in game two with a Lewis RBI double in the second inning.

The Warriors answered back quickly, scoring twice in the third on back-to-back RBI doubles from Francesca Magliochetti and Jennifer Hamil.

Householder singled in Harden in the fourth to make it 3-1 Webber International.

After the Warriors added a run in the seventh to make it a 4-1 ballgame, the Eagles came to bat down by three. Espinosa led off with a base hit and eventually scored on a ground out from Talia Barraco, cutting the deficit to 4-2 with two outs. Battison singled to keep the Eagles alive and Samantha Smith reached on a fielding error by the pitcher Spurgeon. Zimmerman then stepped up and crushed the first pitch she saw from Spurgeon, sending it over the wall in left-center field to give the Eagles an improbable come-from-behind victory, 5-4.

Zimmerman (10-9) collected her second win of the day, pitching a scoreless inning of relief, giving up no hits or walks and striking out one batter. Alexis Estrada pitched six-plus innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on nine hits with four strikeouts and no walks.

The Eagles will now have two weeks to prepare for The Sun Conference Tournament, which begins May 1 in Clermont, Fla. ERAU currently sits in second place in the conference standings and have already clinched a berth in the tournament.
