DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle softball head coach Kelsi Dunne Diaz has announced the hire of Ben Greer as the program's Associate Head Coach.

Greer is no stranger to Daytona Beach, coming to ERAU after a successful stint at Daytona State College where he transformed the Falcons into one of the top junior college programs in the country. During his time with DSC, Greer elevated the program to national heights for the first time in twenty years in 2025 with 20 wins over ranked opponents that same season. Greer finished out his stint with the Falcons ranked within the Top 25 in the national polls for 22 consecutive weeks, coaching 20 All-Conference selections and five All-State honorees.

"We're thrilled to welcome Ben Greer to our softball program as Associate Head Coach," Dunne Diaz said. "Ben brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success both on and off the field. Throughout his career, his teams have consistently excelled in all facets of the game. His experience, leadership, and knowledge will have a tremendous impact on our student-athletes."

"Ben's commitment to the complete development of student-athletes stands out just as much as the successes on the field," Dunne Diaz added. "His programs have excelled academically and have been some of the best in the country in GPA. He understands that our responsibilities as coaches go beyond softball, and he has consistently developed student-athletes' personal growth to succeed in life."

"There is no question that our program just got better with Ben joining our staff, and I am excited to begin working alongside him as we continue to pursue championships and provide an exceptional student-athlete experience."

Beyond his success on the field, Greer's teams have consistently excelled in the classroom. Under his leadership, Daytona State earned NJCAA Softball Academic Team of the Year, and FCSAA Female Team of the Year in 2024, posting the highest GPA among junior college softball programs in the nation (3.81). He has also coached 42 NJCAA National All-Academic Team Award recipients and 48 Academic All-Region selections.

Prior to DSC, Greer spent several seasons as the head coach at Iowa Western Community College, compiling a 248-129 overall record and advancing to four Region XI Championship Games. His teams earned national rankings in multiple seasons and captured three NJCAA and NFCA Academic Team of the Year Awards. During his tenure with the Reivers, he coached numerous All-Americans and helped establish several program records.

Greer's coaching career includes a stint at McCook Community College as head coach of the Indians. He guided the program to a pair of NCCAC titles and earned multiple Coach of the Year honors. Previously he served as an assistant coach at Eastern Oregon, helping the Mountaineers establish offensive success and setting program records.

Greer earned a bachelor's degree from Eastern Oregon University and a master's degree from Pennsylvania Western University.

"I'm extremely excited for this opportunity to coach at Embry-Riddle," Greer stated. "I would like to thank Coach Kelsi Dunne Diaz and Dr. Rachel Burleson for the opportunity to continue my career at such an incredible institution. ERAU softball already has a record of success, and I am thrilled to add any value I can to continuing that success. I'm looking forward to getting to work!"
