BABSON PARK, Fla. – The top-ranked Embry-Riddle men's tennis team notched its third Sun Conference win of the season with an 8-1 decision against NAIA No. 22 Webber International on Thursday. The Eagles are now 11-3 on the year and will put their perfect league record on the line on Friday when they host SCAD Savannah at the Crotty Tennis Complex. Match time is slated for 2 p.m.

The Eagles secured an early 3-0 lead by virtue of a 3-0 sweep in doubles. Deni Zmak and Simon Felix made quick work of Justus Klocke and Mislav Colak, blanking the Warriors' top-flight duo 8-0. Patrick Besch and Jaime Sanchez-Canamares Rios bested Jonathan Cohen and Rodrigo Santibanez 8-4 at the second doubles position, and Luke de Caires and Miguel Lopez Gomez completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win over Niklas Kammer and Firmiano Filho on court three.

Singles play saw the Blue and Gold register straight-set wins at the first, third and sixth spots in the lineup. Zmak dropped just four games in a 6-1, 6-3 defeat of Kammer at the top spot, while de Caires, playing his first match of the year at No. 4 rode the momentum of a 7-6 (5) win in the first set to down Klocke 6-1 in the second. Up 3-0 in the first, Felix went on to notch his 18th win of the year when his opponent, Colak, was forced to retire due to injury. At the No. 6 position, Juan Verberne earned the first dual match win of his Embry-Riddle career by topping Patricio Henning 6-1, 7-5 to put the Eagles up 7-0.

The final two matches to reach completion both went to three sets. On court two, Besch dropped the first frame to Cohen 6-4, but rallied to win 6-4, 10-2 in the second and third sets, respectively. At the No. 5 spot, Lopez Gomez and Santibanez engaged in a fierce battle, and in the end, it was the WIU junior who was able to hold off the ERAU sophomore, 5-7, 7-6 (4), 13-11 for the Warriors' only point of the afternoon.
