DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's track & field team will be sending 16 athletes to the 2014 NAIA Outdoor National Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala. on May 22-24 as the official list of qualifiers was announced Friday by the NAIA.
ERAU will have a big chance to score points in the field led by Rico Saldana in the high jump. Saldana owns the third-best time in the NAIA this season with a PR of 2.10m.
Richard Maku will represent the Blue and Gold in the triple jump as he owns the 12th best mark in the NAIA with a 14.43m mark. 2014 Indoor All-Americans
James Bullock and
Kameron Turner are set to compete in the decathlon, while Turner will also compete in the pole vault.
Two Eagles are set to compete in the 3000m steeplechase including The Sun Conference Freshman of the Year
Paul McKenna and 2014 Indoor All-American
Vincent Bett.
Also on the track,
Alex Dori will represent the Eagles in the sprints as he has qualified in the 110m hurdles, while
Jamin Mays is set to race in the 800m.
In the relays, the Eagles will be the fourth seed in the 4x800m with a combination of
Alec Hernandez, Mays,
Zachary Kraus,
Ryan Larson or
Andrew Carpenter set to compete. ERAU will enter the 4x100m relay as the 26th seed with any combination of Abullah Carew, Dori,
Joe DiGregorio,
Jean Frenot, Bullock or
Ricardo Dunbar.
The NAIA Outdoor National Championships will be held at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala. The meet gets underway on Thursday, May 22, the Eagles first event will be the decathlon at 10:30 a.m.
