Kalah Martin, but it wasn't enough to get by the Lady Royals who topped ERAU 64-58.
Three Eagle players are averaging 10 plus points per game, including Martin (10.8),
Mercedes Jorge (10.7) and
Sabrina Whiting (10.5). Whiting also leads the squad in steals (2.42 spg) and assists (3.33 apg), while
Taylor Cyphers leads the league and is 15th nationally in blocks per game (2.33).
SCOUTING AVE MARIAAve Maria is also coming off a loss after falling to St. Thomas, 70-65, on Wednesday. The Lady Gyrenes, coached by Bob Batson, now stand at 9-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play. Senior transfer Madison McDonald is pacing the AMU offense, averaging 17.1 points to go with 3.4 assists and 2.4 boards per contest.
Last season, the Lady Gyrenes finished tied for second in the conference regular season standings with an 11-5 record. The No. 2 seed in the conference tournament, AMU edged Webber International 70-69 to win the conference tournament and advance to the NAIA II National Championship.
