BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Eighth-ranked Embry-Riddle men's track and field wrapped up competition at the Samford Invitational on Saturday. The Eagles hit three national qualifying standards and narrowly missed out on achieving several more.
For the second consecutive meet
Richard Maku hit an "A" standard and set a school record in the triple jump. With a distance of 14.60m, Maku broke his own school record in the event by .16m.
Also in the field, freshman
Brodie Lubelski set his collegiate best mark in the shot put with a distance of 13.62m.
The Blue and Gold hit two more standards on the track.
Alec Hernandez posted an automatic qualifying standard in the 1000m with a time of 2:28.61, while
Vincent Bett hit a "B" standard in the 3000m as he crossed the finish line in 8:41.05.
Senior
Zachary Kraus just missed hitting a "B" standard in the mile as he posted a time of in 4:21.52 the event.
The Eagles will now prepare for their final meet of the regular season, the ERAU Last Chance Meet, which they will host next weekend (Feb. 21-22) at the Embry-Riddle Track and Field Complex. After that, it's off to the NAIA National Championships in Geneva, Ohio from March 5-7.
