NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Embry-Riddle men's track and field team is ranked ninth overall in the NAIA National Team Computer Rankings, which were released Wednesday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The rankings are determined using the national descending order lists for individual and relay events to calculate a point total for each team. The higher an athlete is ranked in the descending order lists, the more points he or she accumulates for his or her team; the more high-ranking athletes a team has, the higher their score.
Embry-Riddle has earned 120.18 points and is the only team from the Sun Conference ranked in the top 25. The Eagles have achieved 13 national qualifying standards in their first three meets of the indoor season.
Defending national champion Indiana Tech is ranked first in the nation with 465.03 points, followed by Doane (Neb.) (292.82), Wayland Baptist (Texas) (290.21), Concordia (Neb.) (216.71), and Oklahoma Baptist (193.90) to round out the top five.
Three heptathletes from the ERAU men's track and field squad,
Kameron Turner,
James Bullock, and
Lonnie Marts, will compete in the East Tennessee State Buccaneer Invitational this weekend. The rest of the team is off this week but will return to action next weekend when they head to Birmingham, Ala. for the Samford Multi and Indoor Invitational.
