ORLANDO, Fla. – The eighth-ranked Embry-Riddle women's track and field team had a successful outing at the UCF Twilight invitational on Thursday evening. The Eagles hits four total qualifying standards, including three "A" standards.
Martina Tafoya and
Kristen Metcalfe led the way for ERAU as each athlete posted multiple qualifying times. Metcalfe hit an "A" standard in the 400m with a time of 56.40 before posting a "B" standard in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.01. Tafoya competed in the 400m hurdles as well, crossing the finish line in a personal record and automatic qualifying time of 1:02.64.
Tafoya and Metcalfe also teamed up with
Marina LeVine and
Tamara Chambers to hit an "A" standard in 4x400m relay.
Freshman
Eliza Gazda also set a personal record in the 5000m as she posted a time of 20:21.10.
The Eagles will now focus their efforts on next Friday's UNF East Region Preview. Next week's meet at UNF is the final regular season meet of the year for the Blue and Gold and it will be the last opportunity for the Eagles who have not qualified for nationals to do so.
