DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Three members of the Embry-Riddle women's track and field and cross country teams have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. The teams are chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and honor those student-athletes who have shown success in athletics and in the classroom.
Marina LeVine,
Tamara Chambers and
Maite Moscoso were all named to the Academic All-District Team.
LeVine, a junior, carries a 4.0 GPA in Business Administration. The Indian Rocks Beach native set six personal records during the track season this year, including both the 600m (1:35.90) and 800m (2:15.48) during indoor season. Outdoors, LeVine set PRs in the 100m (13.32), 800m (2:13.45), 1500m (4:42.31) and 3000m (11:00.97). As a cross country runner in the fall, LeVine posted a pair of top-10 finishes, including a sixth-place time of 20:09.90 at the Moccasin Invitational. A four-time NAIA All-American in track & field, LeVine was a second team CoSIDA Academic All-America selection last year.
Chambers, a sophomore, holds a 3.545 GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major. A native of Port St. Joe, Chambers was an All-Sun Conference performer a year ago running primarily the 400m and 4x400m relay events. This year, Chambers set personal bests in four disciplines, including the outdoor 400m (1:02.00), as well as the outdoor 200m (26.93), outdoor 300m hurdles (49.52) and indoor 60m (8.45).
Moscoso, a junior from Longwood, currently has a 3.88 GPA in Business Administration. A CoSIDA Academic All-America second team selection a year ago, Moscoso competed in four cross country meets in the fall, running a personal-best time of 19:44.68 at the Sand Shark Invitational. A three-time NAIA All-American in the Race Walk, she also competed in a handful of indoor track meets, posting an 11:34.44 in the indoor 3000m at the ERAU Last Chance Meet.
Academic All-District selections advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, with honorees announced in early June.
