BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Embry-Riddle men's track and field team had a contingent of student-athletes compete at the KMS Invitational, hosted by Troy University, on Sunday, and the Eagles saw several personal records and one school record set at the Birmingham Crossplex Arena.
For the second time in as many meets,
Brodie Lubelski broke the school record in the shot put, winning the event with a throw of 17.86m, more than eight feet further than the second-place finisher. Lubelski, who last week won the ERAU Indoor/Outdoor Challenge by posting a 16.79m mark in the shot put, bettered that mark by more than three feet on Sunday. Lubelski's 17.86m toss would rank fourth in NCAA II competition thus far this season.
The sophomore wasn't done after the shot put, setting a PR in the weight throw at 15.19m, finishing fourth in the event. Joining Lubelski in setting a PR in throwing events was
Zach Farner who did so in the shot put with a throw of 14.48m.
On the track side of things, both
Adam Lawrence and
Brian Cheluget set PRs in the 3000m with times of 9:04.72 and 9:09.06, respectively.
Matt Graves was the top Eagle finisher in the event, finishing fourth in 8:46.02.
Lonnie Marts set a PR in the indoor 60m, running a 7.19, while also running a 50.06 in the 400m, the Eagles' top finisher in the event.
The Blue and Gold's Distance Medley team placed third at the KMS Invitational with a time of 10:30.84.
Embry-Riddle will return to Birmingham on Feb. 10-11 for the Samford Invitational, also held at the Birmingham Crossplex Arena.
