CAROLINA, Puerto Rico - The Embry-Riddle men's track & field team had a successful day two at the City of Carolina 11th Spring Break Classic on Saturday. Brodie Lubelski won the shot put and set a new meet record in the event while four other Eagles posted personal bests during the day's competition.
Lubelski blew away the field in the shot put, as all four of his throws were over a meter further than anyone else's best throw, and three of his four tosses bettered the previous meet record. His best throw came on his third attempt when he posted a mark of 17.18m, more than two feet further than the previous meet record, which was 16.54m set by Nicholas Cook of Texas A&M in 2010.
Nick Peters posted a PR in the 400m hurdles, clocking in at 58.32 to finish 10th in the race. Lonnie Marts also earned a personal best when he took sixth place in the 400m in 48.63.
In the 100m, both John-Paul Dean (11.62) and Chad Swindell (11.71) finished in personal-best times.
Daniel Cashdollar finished third in the pole vault with a season-best height of 4.50m, while Matt Contreras was sixth in the same event with a season-best mark of 4.30m.
The men's 4x100m relay team of Swindell, Louis Kocina, Dean, and Marcus Pryor also posted a season-best time, finishing in 43.58.
The Eagles return home next weekend for the first of two straight home meets as they host the Florida Division II Challenge on Saturday, March 25.
