DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --  Senior Juan Ortiz Couder won both his singles matches on the first day of the ERAU Open, Friday at the Crotty Tennis Complex. Playing in the Gold Flight, Ortiz Couder was the only ERAU men's player to go 2-0 in singles, dropping just six games in four sets.
 
His first match saw Ortiz Couder dispatch Flagler's Rasmus Jonsson 6-2, 6-1. A few hours later, he returned to the court and downed Bethune Cookman's Jose Plaza 6-1, 6-2.
 
The Eagles' lone doubles win of the day came with Mickael Faucher and Lucas Bos teamed up for an 8-2 defeat of Grant Kayworth and Alex Carbonell of Flagler.
 
Tournament play resumes at 11 a.m. on Saturday with nine singles matches, followed by doubles play at 3 p.m.
