BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Embry-Riddle men's track and field team traveled to Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday to take part in the KMS Invitational. Eagle athletes had a solid day, posting a handful of personal-best marks highlighted by a meet record set by
Calahan Warren.
Warren put on a dominant performance in the mile, winning the event by over six seconds and finished over 16 seconds ahead of the third-place finisher. Warren's time of 4:11.26 was a PR and broke the previous meet record by nearly a full second. Warren also came back later in the day to win the 3000m in 8:49.43.
Andrew Mappes also set a PR with a time of 7.07 in the 60m and an indoor PR of 22.44 in the 200m, while
Marcus Pryor clocked a season-best time of 8.89 in the 60m hurdles. Also posting a personal best was
Paris Williams, who finished the 3000m in 9:16.37.
The quartet of
Lonnie Marts, Pryor, Mappes, and
Jahi DeLoatch won the 4x200m relay in a school-record time of 1:32.05, as the Eagles had never run a 4x200m indoors before today.
In the field events,
Brodie Lubelski finished second in the shot put with a provisional standard mark of 16.98m.
Next up for the Eagles is the Carolina Challenge, a three-day event hosted by the University of South Carolina. The meet kicks off on Thursday, Jan. 31, and wraps up on Saturday, Feb. 2.
