Men’s Rowing Finds Success at Head of the South

AUGUSTA, Ga. - It was a successful day of rowing for the Embry-Riddle men's rowing team as the Eagles claimed one victory and two third-place finishes over five events against Division I and Division II competition down the Savannah River at the Head of the South.

Mathew Pitchford and Weston Hall began the competition for Embry-Riddle in the Men's Championship 1x. With a time of 19:25.0, Pitchford finished fourth while Hall followed right behind in fifth with a 20:26.8.

Later in the morning, Mason AndersonIsaac Dunavant, Frederic Knecht and Joshua Thornburgh (coxswain Maricarin Minnock) had a tight race near the top of the pack in the Men's Club 4+. The Eagles charged home in third with a time of 17:23.5, just three tenths of a second behind Clemson's B-boat in the event.

The Men's Collegiate and Club Novice 4+ boat crewed by Ben Keller, Kevin Ritz, Matthew Talty and Finnegan Yorty (coxswain Alexis Mathis) posted the fastest time in the 18-boat field (16:57.5) to win by 29.4 seconds over second-place Duke.

Another finish on the podium was recorded by Nick Horn, Vaclav Kuncak, Guillermo Mazzilli and Ognjen Srbinovic (coxswain Alec Palmer) in the Men's Championship 4+ thanks to a finishing time of 15:54.8.

A fourth-place finish (14:50.3) in the Men's Championship 8+ by  Isaac Dunavant, Nick Horn, Frederic Knecht, Vaclav Kuncak, Guillermo Mazzilli, Ognjen Srbinovic, Matthew Talty and Joshua Thornburgh (coxswain Alec Palmer) capped off the day of action. 

This concludes the fall portion of the Eagles' schedule. The spring slate will be released in the coming months.
