Join us every Wednesday on erauathletics.com as we take a moment to remember and recognize each of our conference & national championships.

The Embry-Riddle men's basketball team captured both the conference regular season and tournament titles in 2005-06, finishing the year with a 31-3 overall record and a 9-1 mark in Florida Sun Conference play.

The Blue and Gold were led by NAIA Third Team All-American Michael Pyle, who finished the season with 15.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Ryan Exter scored 13.9 points per game and was third on the team with 2.1 assists per contest, while Denny Joseph registered 10.4 points and 3.9 boards per game to go along with 32 steals. Both Pyle and Joseph were named All-Conference performers and Pyle received the Conference Newcomer of the Year award as well.

As a team, Embry-Riddle averaged 79.5 points per game and a +15.4 scoring margin for the year, shooting .471 from the field and .325 from behind the arc. The Eagles outrebounded their opponents 44.4 to 37.1 per game and averaged 18.1 assists and 7.9 steals per game.

ERAU opened the conference slate with a 75-65 win over Florida Memorial at home, in a game that saw the Eagles go 12-for-15 from 3-point range, which still stands as the best single-game 3-point shooting percentage in school history. After four more FSC victories in a row, the Eagles suffered what would be their only conference loss of the season, a 71-68 defeat at Florida Memorial. Following that loss, the Blue and Gold won its final four conference regular season games to finish 9-1 in FSC play to win the regular season conference title.

The Eagles earned the right to host the conference tournament as the top seed, and ERAU downed Warner Southern in the semifinals before exacting some revenge on FMU in the championship game, defeating the Lions 68-55 to win the tournament.

Embry-Riddle then went on to play in the NAIA II National Tournament, and after trouncing Sterling by an 86-55 score in the first game, the Eagles saw their season come to a close with an 84-78 loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene.
