ERAU Women Compete in Alabama, Michigan

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's track and field team was back in action on Saturday with a portion of the squad traveling to the Bulldog Invite hosted by Samford at the Birmingham Crossplex, while a small contingent traveled to Michigan.
 
At the GVSU Big Meet hosted by Grand Valley State in Allendale, Michigan, Ukeyvia Beckwith ran a season-best 2:11.38 to win the 800m run and post the 13th fastest time in NCAA II this season.
 
The Bulldog Invite offered several highlights for the ERAU women competing at the meet.
 
In the sprint events, Shenya Patrice bettered her ERAU season-best mark in the 60m, crossing in 7.78 seconds in the semis, and Nina Richardson posted a season-best 25.92 in the 200m to win her heat.
 
Abby Valley shaved four seconds off her previous PR in the Mile, winning her heat in 5:31.62.
 
The final individual event of the day featured a milestone moment for Kelly Steffens who went under 19 minutes in the 5000m for the first time in her career, placing third in 18:53.74.
 
Next weekend, the Eagles will be split once again with a group competing at the UOFSC Indoor Open in the final indoor meet of the year on Friday, and another group opening the outdoor season at the Nova Southeastern Challenge on Saturday.
