MELBOURNE, Florida - Three Eagle student-athletes earned Sunshine State Conference weekly accolades on Monday as
Murphy McDonough of women's lacrosse, and the men's basketball back court of
Romeo Crouch and
Elijah Jenkins took home Player of the Week honors.
For Crouch, his Defensive Player of the Week award was the seventh weekly honor of his ERAU career, breaking a tie with Sarah Edens (2015-19) of women's cross country, and
Olivia Roa (2016-18) of volleyball for the most SSC weekly accolades in athletic department history. The Titusville, Florida native was a massive defensive presence for the Eagles last week in their two wins over Eckerd and No. 25 Barry to help secure the No. 2 seed in the SSC Tournament. Crouch's 12 defensive rebounds, two blocks, and five steals helped ERAU hold Eckerd to 73 points, and Barry to 72, nearly 20 points below their season average.
McDonough, who was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week, led the Eagles to a 21-10 defeat of Young Harris on the road ERAU's only game of the week. She tied the program record with 10 points in the victory, while her seven goals also tied ERAU's single-game scoring record. The native of Norwell, Massachusetts leads the Eagles (along with teammate
Sallie Squire) with 11 goals on the year.
For the second time this year, and third time in his career, Jenkins was named the SSC Player of the Week. Jenkins had the best week of his senior season, averaging 25 points for the Eagles, while shooting 62% from the floor, 53% (10-for-19) from deep, and a perfect 4-for-4 at the charity stripe. Jenkins was the game's leading scorer in both ERAU wins last week, and he became just the 22nd player in program history to score over 1,200 points in his career.
